About MAPS.com MAPS.com claims to be a leading provider of mapping products and solutions to business, education, and consumer markets. They were allegedly founded in 1991 as Magellan Geographix. MAPS.com, however, maintains to be a privately held company with four primary business divisions.
As an acclaimed industry leader in the online commerce marketplace, MAPS.com claimed to have earned the status of being amongst The Largest Online US Map Store (Alexa ranking June 2011) with an acclaimed 10,000 products available, including Wall Maps, Globes, Atlases, Online Mapping Tools, and much more. The firm alleged that its online commerce is strengthened by an affiliate network of over 3,000 web publishers, further extending MAPS.com to websites worldwide.
MAPS.com further asserts that adding to the retail emphasis is their useful and fun content driving directions, an online world atlas, and even interactive map games. As an alleged premiere online destination, MAPS.com claims to continually provide products and information for visitors.

Services of MAPS.com MAPS.com's mapping services allegedly provide three types of services: Custom Map Creation, Digital Content Licensing, and Publishing. The firm alleged that mapping Services are used by a broad range of businesses in several markets with its three largest being educational publishing, several captions (telephone directory and wireless), and multi-location retail/restaurant chains.
MAPS.com alleges that their mapping Services work for the cruise line, real estate, and ticket broker industries, major map, and travel guide publishers, and general businesses requiring sales territory maps, marketing, and strategic planning maps, and other digital and printed presentation and display maps.
MAPS.com alleged that its Maps101 program was developed in 1998, and was allegedly one of the first online subscriptions services sold to K-12 schools to supplement and complement traditional history. They further argued that compliment.com, a web-based interactive database is comprised of teacher web-based loans, geographer web, based on geography games, dynamic interactive map modules, and over 4,000 acclaimed viewable and printable history, thematic, reference, outline, current events, and animated maps.
MAPS.com argued that Maps101 is currently used by over 4,500 K-12 schools in the US, including the Los Angeles Unified School District and Chicago Public School District.
