Sat on my couch, laptop open, I kept re-reading the privacy pages and felt that familiar itch of not trusting another account. I’d been recovering from a compromised profile, so protecting my info was why I tried it — mostly to keep in touch with family on Facebook. The fine print scared me, legal language and tiny checkboxes; I kept worrying about cards and subscriptions. For years I used one small card for subs and deleted my main card whenever possible — annoying and stressful. I went in skeptical, half expecting to bail, but setup was simpler than I feared, support answered a few odd questions and I’m relieved. Still, little things (couldn’t use a hyphen in my first name) are annoying, but overall I’m glad I did it.
