That weird relief moment
That weird relief moment
Priceit kept saying my email wasn’t recognised, I tried again, tried to update details, it kept rejecting me, and yes, they still charged me. Support apologised, cancelled the membership, said the charge was non-refundable. So useful content, clumsy billing. Not a scam maybe, but not seamless either.
Double-charge and clunky support

Complaintsbe careful with your card info and don’t assume a cancellation stuck.

App & Portalthe scan images load fast, zoom feels smooth, and the way search filters narrow things down actually makes sense. I’m usually wary of monthly sign-ups because of past experiences with flaky companies, and at first I thought this would be the same. But after a confusing moment with billing (took me a minute to find cancel options), support replied and pointed me in the right direction. Overall it’s easy to use, records are clear, and I’d use it again next time I need a quick lookup. A little clunky in places, but mostly a solid tool.

Follow-upcalls, being told to contact some archive, then being bounced back — I was pretty sceptical, honestly. I kept at it though, called a few times, escalated, sent screenshots. Gradually someone actually followed up, and the refund showed up on my Amex after a few days. It wasn’t smooth, but once it moved it moved fairly quickly and the rep who took ownership was helpful. Delivery of the refund could have been faster, and the billing process needs work, but in the end the issue got resolved and I’m cautiously satisfied. Will use the site again for casual ancestor searches, but I’ll watch my statements closely.

ServiceI first saw this service in a Facebook ad and my sister even recommended giving the trial a whirl, so I signed up for the seven-day free thing. Pretty quick I realized I didn't want a long-term subscription and went looking for a simple cancel button — you know, what you'd expect. Nope. They asked me to email customer service, so I did. And then I did it again. Four times, actually. Each time all I got were automated replies asking for information I’d already sent (so annoying). The payment was scheduled for the next day and that’s when I finally felt satisfied — not because they helped, but because I’d called my bank, spent ages on hold, and ended up cancelling my card so the charge couldn’t go through. That moment of relief (finally) was huge; I could breathe again. Does the product itself do what it promises? Sort of — it’s decent for poking around my family tree, a bit clunky, not perfect, but it worked well enough for what I needed. The whole experience with customer service ruined it, though. If you try it, keep an eye on the trial end date and be ready to fight for a refund — or for me, cancel the card and move on.
