Rainy-day comfort
Rainy-day comfort
ServiceRain was lashing the lane and I was halfway heading out when they offered to drive us to the exit — that's the exact moment I knew they had our backs. We popped in for afternoon tea in early January. Staff were relaxed but on it, handled my dietary needs without fuss, brought things over, double-checked, small talk, easy. Big shout to Charlotte and Chelsea, and Sean who drove us, and Amanda at the gate — names I remember because they mattered. I've had hit-or-miss places before, but this felt genuine. Will come back, for sure.

Servicethey won’t pour you tea unless you’re staying overnight, which felt odd since lots of day visitors were just hanging out by the water with nowhere to sit and sip. There are cafés and a small restaurant nearby, so not a dealbreaker. Sceptical at first, now I’d recommend it for a casual day out.
Just what we needed

Serviceit’s exactly the low-key, lovely spot we needed — small, calm and no nonsense. We booked it for an August wedding because I’d been coming here as a kid and, to be frank, we needed somewhere gentle for family: my mom’s mobility isn’t great and I get flare-ups from chronic lower-back pain, so a big hotel or sprawling venue was impossible. The coordinator, Delyth, quietly sorted every detail and didn’t make a drama out of last-minute changes — that steady help was a pleasant surprise. Afternoon tea was properly good (fresh scones, real clotted cream, none of that fake stuff), and the place looks better in person than in photos. I know people moan about the no-dog rule; as a dog owner myself I miss him too, but I see why it makes sense. We’ll be back for anniversaries.
