They checked the cameras, no UPS truck came that day. So began the runaround. Amazon wouldn’t open a claim because UPS had a name tied to the delivery, and that name didn’t even match anyone at the terminal. We pinged the seller, who said they’d talk to UPS. A couple of supervisors were involved — not very helpful, lots of hold music and “we’ll escalate” lines. I kept describing how urgent it was (small kid, no power) and it felt like it didn’t change much. What actually made me breathe easier was when the seller finally agreed to either refund or resend and arranged for a driver follow-up — it took persistence and a few heated calls, but they did go back to UPS and confirm what really happened. They ended up shipping a replacement and refunding part of the trouble, which is why I can say I’m satisfied now; that moment when the tracking finally showed a driver assigned was the moment I relaxed a bit. Still, it was annoying: the communication could’ve been clearer, and Amazon pushing us between them and the vendor was tiring. Not perfect by any stretch, and if you’re in an emergency you want faster action. But in the end the replacement worked, the kid had light and the seller made good on it — just wish the whole thing had been handled faster and with a bit more empathy up front.
