Weird install, kinda useless
Weird install, kinda useless
App & PortalMy friend kept raving so I snagged it from the app store and installed it on my Windows machine. It never opened — tried rebooting, tried relaunching, nada. The web session exists but doesn't actually block sites and you can kill it with one click. Not great, maybe fixable.
Looks okay till the billing shows up
Looks okay till the billing shows up
App & PortalI first spotted this app because a coworker casually mentioned it during lunch, so I gave it a go — interface was fine, nothing fancy but it did what it promised at first. Trouble started when my card got charged about $40 after I thought I’d cancelled. The worst part? I couldn’t remove the card from my account no matter how many times I tried. I even tried deleting the account three times and the system kept failing or just not saving the change. I messaged support and heard nothing for a week, still waiting, which is just frustrating. That inability to unlink payment info really put me off more than the charge itself. If they fixed that and actually replied, I might give it another shot, but right now I told a friend to watch out. Kinda useful otherwise, but this billing mess is a dealbreaker.
Small win for my focus
Small win for my focus
App & PortalI wasn't sure at first — I’d tried a bunch of premium blockers before, Cold Turkey and others, and felt a bit burned. Needed something because working from home and my back pain means I can't afford distracted time, and yeah, ADHD-ish brain doesn't help. Bought the lifetime licence on a whim and okay, it's been surprisingly solid. iOS integration is the thing I use most, and the screen-time style blocking actually works across my phone and iPad better than I expected. Do I still wish focus filters were a built-in trigger? Totally — that would smooth syncing between Apple devices, especially via Shortcuts. I know some limits are Apple’s fault, not Freedom’s, and I've even built a couple of shortcuts to help the sync — happy to share them if the team wants. Overall, it beat my doubts, it's simple to use, kinda reliable, and I’m happy I went for the lifetime.
