Packaging
I still like the meat, but the way this shipment arrived makes me hesitant to order again. I've been buying from them for years — for ourselves and for gifts — and at first I was impressed with the product and how carefully it showed up. This time, though, the packing was sloppy enough that I doubt it was just bad luck.
I got the order a few days ago and the box was basically open when it arrived. All the ice had shifted to the bottom, the bundles were only partially frozen and every one of the packages was covered in a dusty, muddy film (there were 36 of them). Fortunately the temperature was mild so nothing was totally defrosted, and I managed to wipe things down and get them back in the freezer. That said, it was annoying and took time.
To be fair, UPS didn't tear the box apart — the tape on the bottom had given way, so the package was flipped and the ice ended up useless. Whoever packed it had sealed the top really well but not the bottom; a few extra strips of tape and a clear “this side up” label would have fixed it. UPS could have re-taped it too, but the root issue is insufficient packing.
I'm slightly hopeful the quality isn't affected — the cuts still look good — but I'm disappointed enough that I won't blindly reorder unless packaging improves. I like the product and have been a loyal customer, so I’d prefer they tighten up their packing rather than lose repeat buyers like me.
