Data clean-up that actually works

Follow-up

Totally unexpected, but in a good way. I work in tech and thought my info was under control. Nope. Their report showed how many places had my details and who was passing them on. What surprised me more was the support — quick replies, clear steps and they actually followed up until things were removed. The results came faster than I figured. If you care about privacy, try it. Wish I'd done it months ago.

That little privacy sigh

Follow-up

I signed up two weeks ago after fed up with creepy ads. First thing I saw was a long list of places selling my data — kinda wild — and that’s when I figured it might help. The exact moment I relaxed was when they removed several brokers and sent confirmations; a few companies stalled, but Privacy Hawk kept nudging and gave me contact info to follow up.

When the score finally moved

Quality

Right when I glanced at the dashboard I thought, hmm — maybe this is something. A buddy mentioned the app and I tried it to shut him up. My privacy score started in the low hundreds and I was pretty skeptical. A month later it climbed past six hundred and I kept getting alerts — over a hundred broker removals after a few months. The interface is simple, not fancy; it's a bit pricey, but cheaper alternatives seemed worse. I don't trust big companies, so for me it's worth it.

Kitchen privacy helper

App & Portal

clicking remove here, ticking boxes there, while I sip coffee, pretend I'm in control. Wasn't 100% sure at first, but it actually cut down the spam and the interface is simple.

Inbox oddities

Reliability

each note used the client’s own email and full name, even though we never had those addresses in our lists. It felt a bit like someone handing out name tags at a party we didn’t attend. Strange and definitely worrying. Oddly, the messages were polite and formatted nicely, which was the surprising bit — made the whole thing feel almost professional, in a creepy way. Had worse leaks from other vendors before.

Subscription gremlin

Service

I signed up after a lot of hemming and hawing — mostly afraid of auto-renew and the whole 'unsubscribe' dance. Turns out my worries were legit. I cancelled, thought it was done, and months later noticed charges still coming out. Tried calling, nobody picks up; asked for a refund, they gave me the runaround and vague reasons. Feels a bit like being ghosted by a company. I'm still waiting for a manager to call. Wish they'd make cancellation transparent — save people the digging. If you're on the fence, be cautious and check your statements. Also, keep screenshots, trust me.

Not quite the one-click fix

Timing

useful for organizing and sending requests, but it overpromises on instant removal. If you expect a one-click purge, you’ll be disappointed; if you want a tool to manage follow-ups, it’s okay.

Finally back in, but it took ages

Communication

different replies, an automated “year free” message followed by a human email with a completely different offer that didn’t help me at all. I’ve dealt with other companies where a single call fixed things, so this felt unnecessarily clunky. Overall the service works when it works and I’m glad to be back, but I’d expect better follow-through and clearer communication for a paid yearly plan. Mildly relieved, still cautious.
