About Penn

Penn was founded by Otto Henze in 1933. Since then, they have strived to be at the forefront of modern reel design and production. The history of Penn started in the 1920s when 25-year-old Otto Henze left Germany for the United States. He started working as a machinist for the Ocean City Reels Company of Philadelphia. His aspirations were great as he dreamed of having his own company as well as building world-record fishing reels. After leaving the Ocean City Reels Company, he started his own fishing reel company in 1932 which was established in a 3rd Floor loft at 492 North Third Street in Philadelphia where he began selling his reels to the general public. And since then, he has strived to develop the company to become a world record holder.

Penn prides itself on the fact that millions of experienced anglers around the globe put their faith in their products every day and Penn admits that it is the source of their inspiration to continue their founder's dream of manufacturing the world's highest quality fishing tackle.
