Almost walked away, glad I didn’t

Returns & Refunds

heavy unit, $400, and warranties are often hype, right? So yeah I bought it but kept my guard up. When it started acting flaky I was annoyed and doubting everything again. I charged it at home, it read full after a few hours, then the next afternoon it was flat. Took it into the store and at first an employee said the warranty was void because the voltage had dropped below 10V — which felt like a shrug, like, fine, whatever. But I hung around, showed my charger logs and my buddy phoned in a tip, and a manager actually listened. Long story short, they reviewed it, swapped the battery, and were apologetic about the initial confusion. Not perfect service, but the outcome fixed my worry and I’m honestly relieved and thankful they made it right. Would I recommend? Yeah — just keep receipts and be persistent.

Key programming doubt turned sour

Returns & Refunds

I was on the fence about going to Batteries Plus — a buddy had told me to try them, and I figured it’d be quick. I’m glad I hesitated because I had real doubts about prepaying and a mandatory waiver they wanted signed. I didn’t have my glasses so the clerk offered to fill the form out for me, which already made me uneasy. He asked for payment up front and said there’d be a $90 charge regardless if the programming worked. After maybe ten to fifteen minutes he came back and said he couldn’t get the fob to program. That felt off; it didn’t seem like a proper attempt was made. When I asked for the payment back, I was refused. I left frustrated and thinking I’d been taken — not the outcome I expected from a friend’s recommendation. I’m planning to follow up with consumer protection, partly because I worry this could be a pattern targeting people who are pressed for time or not well prepared. Disappointing, honestly.

Schaumburg battery — wary but relieved

Returns & Refunds

don’t buy from the Schaumburg Batteries Plus if you expect clear warranty handling or a helpful manager — you'll probably end up frustrated, though I’m slightly relieved it didn’t go worse once corporate finally answered.

Small win, mostly annoyance

Returns & Refunds

useful to know that a simple at-home test can save you time, and that if you value an easy exchange, this place might not be it. I left feeling validated, not satisfied with the company.

Warranty mess, disappointing visit

Returns & Refunds

the battery read “below 10 volts.” To me that’s backwards — low voltage is the symptom, not a disqualifier. A battery that can’t hold charge is failing, full stop. They even left it on a charger for 24 hours, showed me the raised voltage, and tried to hand it back as if the problem was solved. But a temporarily charged cell that dies again after normal use is still defective. I asked if customers are expected to carry a voltmeter and prove the battery’s condition before bringing it in; nobody mentioned that when I bought it, and it feels like they invented a rule to avoid honouring the warranty. What made it worse: one employee essentially admitted corporate would have accepted the claim, which suggests the issue was this location’s handling, not company policy. So I left the battery with them and took the case to corporate directly. My advice to others: keep receipts, be ready to escalate, and don’t let a voltage-reading dodge be the end of it. I’m frustrated — not furious, but definitely disappointed that a basic warranty process turned into extra hassle. A clearer, consistent diagnostic procedure and better training at store level would have fixed this quickly.
