I haven't bought anything yet, but I did a bunch of research to find actual reviews instead of just ads all over the place. I finally came across a place where people were straight up about the product, and it was like, whoa. Lightning can really mess up your day even if you have good wires.
Scammy product
This website selling a fake $400 box of nothing is a total rip-off, eh? Like, seriously, who would fall for this junk? It's literally made from cheap stuff you can find at the dollar store. I can't believe they're trying to pass this off as some kind of protection. The whole thing is a scam, eh?
EMP Shield
Any of you who are thinking about buying this thing had better understand the risks. I bought two of these things. One for my breaker box and one for my solar controller. I have no idea if the one on the breaker box will work but one thing I know for sure is it damaged my solar controller. I have a Midnite Classic 150 that was working perfectly until I attached that EMP Shield. The controller then would just turn itself off and drastically discharged my batteries. The controller would show the batteries at full charge but when tested the batteries were at 11 volts. I have no doubt that this thing permanently damaged my batteries as discharging them to that level does cause damage. I had to buy another controller at $750.00 to replace the one that was damaged. DO NOT USE THIS DEVICE ON ANY OFF GRID CONTROLLER!!!!!
