Backpacks and accessories
I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised to see only a few reviews for this brand. Shimoda has really been making a name for themselves in the market lately. Back in 2020 and 2021, they were still in the early stages and going through their first Kickstarter campaign, so it's understandable that not everything was perfect back then. As for the waterproofing, the coating and zipper protection are really effective at keeping water out and ensuring your gear stays safe even during unexpected downpours. And let's not forget about the rain cover that comes with the bag, it's definitely there for a reason ;) Personally, I've owned two of their bags and a few accessories for 2 years now, and I couldn't be happier. I've been searching for the perfect bag for a while - one that is well-designed, made of high-quality materials, versatile, and really protects my gear. I've tried Peak Design, Lowepro, and others, but none of them quite satisfied me like Shimoda did. Yes, Shimoda does come with a higher price tag, but you're getting the core unit included (which really protects against bumps!), and honestly, I don't think it's overpriced. I feel like I wasted money on my previous bags in terms of material quality, finishing, and long-term durability. I also had to contact customer support because I received a slightly damaged waistbelt (probably during shipping) and they responded quickly and sent me a new one, so I'm really happy with their service. In my opinion, they truly offer the best backpacks on the market, with a growing company that keeps improving. Plus, founder Ian Millar is very active on social media, providing great tips on their bags. He even personally responds to users on the Shimoda Explore V2 Community Facebook group. 5/5
Bought a backpack
I picked up a backpack from this place and let me tell you, it is top-notch! The quality is superb, way better than any other bags I've seen. They delivered it right on schedule and were quick to respond to all my questions. Yeah, it was a bit pricey but honestly, the backpack is worth every penny, it's just that good!
Photo backpack purchase
So, I was really excited to get this awesome photo backpack that everyone online was raving about, eh? But you know what happened? It showed up and it was totally empty! No room for my camera or lenses or anything! I was completely confused! I went on the website and found out I needed to buy this "core unit" thingamajig to actually use the backpack. Like, why wouldn't they just include it from the start? It was so annoying. I felt pretty silly and frustrated. They should have let us know about this stuff beforehand, don't you think, eh?
2 backpacks
This company is such a scam, eh. I ordered 2 backpacks, paid up front, and never got a single one. I tried reaching out on Instagram and email, but they just blocked me without even trying to fix things, eh. The whole sign-up process is so fishy and confusing, it really makes me doubt if this company is even legit, eh. Don't bother wasting your time or money on these sketchy folks, they're just a bunch of bullies, eh.
Waterproof backpack
Just picked up this sick new waterproof backpack, yeah it cost a pretty penny but it's worth it. The quality is top-notch and it looks pretty cool. Only issue is, it ain't really waterproof. I mean, come on, why tho? The design totally gives off waterproof vibes but it's not actually waterproof. Pretty disappointing because it wouldn't be that hard to actually make it waterproof.
