Portfolio showcase
Sketchfab is such a great platform to show off my portfolio. The site is really easy to use and navigate, so uploading and sharing my work is a piece of cake. I've gotten some really positive feedback from clients and potential customers who've checked out my projects on Sketchfab. It's awesome for getting exposure and has brought me new clients and projects. I totally recommend using Sketchfab if you want to showcase your work in a professional and creative way.
Virtual models purchase
My experience with Virtual models was really good, eh? I liked checking out all their different models before deciding to buy one. The only problem is that their models can be copied easily by other people, which isn't great for the artists who created them. Also, their customer service took a long time to get back to me when I needed help, which was annoying. But even with these issues, I was happy with the quality of the models and how easy it was to place an order.
Portfolio tool
I've been using the portfolio tool on this website a lot this year, and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed. The website is easy to use and looks good - it makes it simple to show off my work. The customer service is also really good, they always answer my questions quickly. I'm grateful for what this platform is bringing to the industry.
Online platform features
I gotta say, the online platform features are really awesome. It's super easy to use and fits perfectly with other online platforms. I love how I can share my private client work, update my online portfolio, and promote my work on social media all in one spot. It's tough to think of a better alternative to this platform.
Reported inappropriate comments by random users.
Yo, so I was scrolling through Sketchfab and peeped these random users leaving some rude comments, so I decided to report them. But guess what? The folks over at Sketchfab didn't even bother doing anything about it! Like, come on, what's the point of having a report button if you ain't gonna take action, right? And don't even get me started on how they seem to play favorites and only show love to some, all about that "clout" instead of appreciating those who are actually bringing in the bucks. I used to hype up Sketchfab to my pals, but now I'm like, nah, you better find another spot. Oh, and make sure to read the fine print carefully when uploading your models, 'cause they could totally turn around and use it against you, just a heads up!
Paid plan dissatisfaction
Sketschfab keeps messing around with their plans, raising the prices and giving us less stuff. I got real fed up when I was trying to download an invoice for my business. Took me nearly an hour to figure out their system, but I just kept running into problems and couldn't get any help from their customer service. The way they're hiding stuff and not helping customers is just not right.
Editorial use assets
As a Sketchfab customer, I just wanted to say that I'm really disappointed with how they categorize some assets as only for editorial use. These assets aren't very helpful for people who want to use them for business or to promote products. It seems like they're just trying to get more money from people who didn't realize the restrictions when they bought the assets. Other stores, like the Unity asset store, don't charge extra for assets with limited usability, which seems much more fair. I think Sketchfab should rethink their editorial use license and maybe get rid of it altogether to be more upfront and fair to their customers.
Animation business investment
My experience with Sketchfab was a disaster. I put a lot of time and effort into setting up multiple store fronts using their technology for 5 years. But then things went downhill when they asked me to remove PayPal links that were already approved. An employee even threatened to delete all my content without any warning, and then they ended up deleting not just my accounts, but also other users' accounts. It was clear that there were major security issues when I found out how easy it was to copy content from the platform. Overall, my time with Sketchfab was a mess of incompetence and unprofessional behavior. I definitely don't recommend using this platform.
Account login issue
I had such a frustrating time with this platform, eh. I made a store account but couldn't even log in, like, what's up with that? And when I tried to reach out for help, they said I needed to log in first – like, how am I supposed to do that if I can't even get in, right? Then I tried to reset my password, but even after waiting for 3 whole days, I still didn't hear anything back. It was such a waste of my time, honestly. I wouldn't suggest using this platform to anyone, eh.
AI-generated models
Using AI, Sketchfab creates models from the data you upload, adjusting elements to encourage AI usage. It's important to be careful when uploading content to sites like Sketchfab, as they could use it in ways you might not agree with later on. Although AI-generated models are convenient, the impact on artists and creators is worrying.
